Bangladesh Clinches Historic Win in South Asian Athletics Championship

Dhaka: Bangladesh delivered a remarkable performance at the 2026 South Asian Athletics Championship, securing its best medal tally in history and showcasing promising talent across track and field events.

The national athletics team finished the championship with a total of 8 medals, including 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze, surpassing the previous best set in 2018. The multi-nation event, which featured athletes from South Asian countries including India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, and the Maldives, concluded with high energy and competitive spirit.

Standout Performances

Sprinter Rafiq Uddin captured headlines by winning gold in the 100m and 200m sprint finals, clocking personal bests in both races. His explosive speed and strong finish thrilled spectators and marked a major milestone for Bangladesh athletics.
